Workshop Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of this workshop is to bring experts together from the standards development, operating rule authoring entity, federal government and industry, to collaborate on ideas to improve the update and adoption process. The objective is to build on strengths and best practices to identify opportunities for change to create paths to more predictable standards/operating rule update processes that will enable health plans, providers, clearinghouses and their trading partners to more effectively plan for implementation of new versions of standards and operating rules.
Tentative Agenda
Individuals participating in the workshop have been invited to do so, as representatives of the standards development organizations, operating rule authoring entity and Designated Standards Maintenance Organization named in regulation by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Individuals attending the workshop in person are welcome to participate in the workshop.

Background
NCVHS conducted informal information gathering with the SDOs and ORAE in advance of the workshop, to gather baseline information about each organization’s governance, update procedures, participation, pilot testing, fees, strengths and barriers. A comparison grid of this information will be published as part of the final summary report.
