ACTIONS

  • By April or June 2006, Dr. Warren, Mr. Blair, Mr. Reynolds, and Ms. Friedman will participate in the development a draft document of findings for the Secretary that summarizes and groups recommendations coming from the diversity as well as the homogeneity of prototypes presented to the Subcommittee thus far.  The focus will be on analyzing input about matching records to records.  This letter would call for actions to improve HIPAA and to recognize other emerging standards.  It was suggested that Solomon Apovu, who is familiar with identifiers used in the correctional system, review the document.

  • It was suggested that preparation of the Subcommittee’s Annual Report, which is due in September 2006, begin.  Marking HIPAA’s ten year anniversary, the focus of the report will be on lessons learned.  The entire Subcommittee was invited to submit their thoughts on lessons learned from HIPAA.
