  • Thoughts about establishing a Quality Subcommittee
  • Incorporating Population issues throughout Committee considerations

Briefings and panel presentations:

  • Update on CHI — Jared Adair
  • Congressional staff input on NHII
  • Population Health topic– GIS,  standardized definitions,  genomics, speaker suggestions
  • International update
  • OCR briefing on privacy rule compliance and issues, including statistical feedback
  • Status of health tracking initiative
  • International harmonization of standards
  • Also, information to be provided about accessing the HHS Gateway to Data and Statistics on the WEB:    http://aspe.hhs.gov/statinfo/
  • Also, consideration of having an organizational (closed) session on ethical issues for Committee members; and Marjorie to provide feedback from Gallup survey on Federal Advisory Committees.
  • Finally, Subcommittee on Standards and Security might have a draft of the 2003 Report to Congress on HIPAA progress for consideration

12:10 p.m. Possible Action Items at June Meeting:

  • Subc on Populations

Background: The Subc submitted a letter to the Secretary with a preliminary set of issues raised in hearings conducted throughout 2002  (March 27, 2003) and is planning to have a draft report available for the June meeting.

  • NHII Workgroup

Background:  The Workgroup has conducted several hearings and plans to prepare a letter of recommendations as a result.

  • Workgroup on Quality

Background:The Workgroup has organized findings from past hearings and panels on quality issues, and plans to present a draft of a report at the June meeting.
